Employee Engagement

AES UK & Ireland is proud of our committed Employee Engagement Champions. AES people volunteer to create opportunities for our people to get involved in ways that support our business objectives of growth, sustainability and people development.

The Employee Engagement Champions programme has three areas of focus:

  • Business Sustainability – everyone working together to build a solid platform to support platform expansion in the UK and Ireland.
  • People Development – developing our people and maximising their skills and expertise.
  • Speed of Light - encouraging creativity, innovation and business agility to ensure we are ready for new opportunities.

Opportunities for involvement are offered around Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Health & Wellbeing, Communications, Development and Team Building.

Employee Engagement in our communities

Involvement in CSR activities offers employees the opportunity to engage with and contribute to their local community while at the same time providing opportunities for personal growth and development that they may not otherwise have. It enables employees to contribute directly to their own skills and success while giving back to our communities.

AES people volunteer for a number of formal initiatives, including mentoring at a local high school and hosting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) student placements, as well as a number of internal initiatives like the Employee Engagement Champions, Green Teams and Charity Committee.

AES Charity of the Year

Each year, AES people nominate and vote for the AES UK & Ireland Charity of the Year. Recipients have included Belfast City Hospital Cardiac Unit, Northern Ireland Hospice, Age NI, the Carrickfergus Junior Gateway Club and the Air Ambulance for Northern Ireland.

The Charity of the Year programme doesn’t simply provide funding – it also creates a reward scheme to encourage everyone in our company to ‘Put Safety First’.

The final amount donated to the Charity of the Year depends on the safety participation and performance of AES people. Every time an AES employee or long-term contractor submits a Behavioural Based Safety Submission, an additional £2 is added to the pot. In 2015 AES people generated £15,000 in additional funds for a local community charity by being ‘Always on for Safety’.

Our 2017 Charity of the Year is the Air Ambulance for Northern Ireland.
