Availability and Reliability

We established a system of KPIs to monitor our generation businesses which includes Equivalent Availability Factor (EAF), Net Capacity Factor (NCF), Commercial Availability and Equivalent Forced Outage Factor (EFOF).

AES also brings a deep understanding of the needs and ambitions of the energy systems in Great Britain and the All-Island Electricity Markets, built over 24 years of operating on these islands.

Efficiency in Generation

AES is an integral part of security of supply in the All-Island electricity system, and maintains an extremely high availability record. In 2015, AES UK & Ireland generated 3,596 GWh, meeting 9.86% of energy demand across the All-Island electricity system.

We are committed to building our UK & Ireland business from Northern Ireland, by delivering on essential security of supply requirements, supporting decarbonisation targets, and creating value for customers across these islands.

We have applied advanced fuel combustion technologies at our existing power plants to maximise capacity and optimise availability. We are currently installing the largest battery energy storage array in the United Kingdom at Kilroot Power Station, to enhance our generation portfolio.
